HOW TO GET A MARRIAGE LICENSE!

(Don’t forget that it is your responsibility to get the marriage license!)

Information for the Phoenix area: Maricopa Clerk of the Court Marriage licenses issued in the state of Arizona are valid for one year and may be used for marriage in any of the counties.

Remember to bring the license to the wedding so it can be signed and filed.  I do the legal filing after the wedding.

I LOVE Pinterest!

There are so many ideas there for your planning, photography, and ceremony.
Rites of Celebration has a page — check out what I have already found.

A unity ceremony is often added after the couple is announced as a married couple and can be done in a variety of ways.  Popular ceremonies include: Sand Ceremony (creating a clear glass sculpture with colored sands symbolizing the couple and children if appropriate), Candle Ceremony (lighting a new large candle from their individual candles to symbolize the new home), Wine Ceremony (blending two wines and drinking from a common glass), Branding (burning a symbol created by the couple into a wooden item to be hung in the new home), Time Capsule (with a bottle of wine for your first anniversary with letters to each other and or a copy of your vows).

Check out Unity Ceremonies on Pinterest, or other wedding traditions

Time Capsule can include:  Copy of wedding invitation, a bottle of wine to share on 1st anniversary, notes written to each other on your wedding day, hand blessing cord, pictures, future dreams lists, etc.

INCLUDING THOSE WHO CAN’T ATTEND
For many, the celebration of an important life event is a bit sorrowful because someone special is not there to share in the event. There are many options to lessen this absence.

If the person is separated because of distance or health, Skype or Facetime is a wonderful option to allow them to witness or even participate in the ceremony via tech.

Carrying a memento of the loved one with you or at a special location for your guests can see is a loving way to include those that are missing.

Having a special letter from them included in your ceremony or reception is also a good option.

If there are deceased individuals that you want to honor, leaving special chairs for them is a visual way to welcome their connection. A picture of the missing individual, helps other guests to understand the absence. Personal mementos can be carried by couple.

Your ceremony can also include candles lighted for these individuals or a personal item included in your flowers or other items carried during the ceremony.
